2020 Mount Pisgah Arboretum Mushroom Festival

Yes, it would be wonderful if COVID-19 were all behind us by the end of October. But, we are thinking that is pretty doubtful.  So a small team consisting of Mount Pisgah Arboretum Staff, CMS members and our Lane Community College partner started talking about and working on the concept of a virtual mushroom festival in the latter part of June.

Here is Brad Van Appel, the Director of the Mount Pisgah Arboretum to tell you a little more …

The entire event is FREE. You can watch on the Mount Pisgah Arboretum Website, Youtube channel, or Facebook page – Click on a button below.

Our concept is to recreate the look and feel of the much loved festival as much as possible. We will be asking CMS members and the myco community to contribute to our virtual mushroom display via an INaturalist Mycoblitz. And, we will have our normal Best in Show awards and prizes, plus some additional “scavenger hunt” prizes for specific mushrooms.

A virtual event will provide a unique opportunity to showcase educational talks about a variety of fungi topics that are not normally present at the festival. If you are a mycophile (lover of all things mushrooms), you will certainly recognize some of these “Myco Stars” that will be part of the virtual festival.
