Langdon Cook Presents: Friday, October 25th at the LCC Forum
Langdon Cook, author of “The Mushroom Hunters: On the Trail of an Underground America” and “Fat of the Land: Adventures of a 21st Century Forager,” will be our featured speaker on the Friday before the Mt. Pisgah Mushroom Festival. Langdon’s newest book “The Mushroom Hunter” is getting great reviews. It examines human behavior, economics, food, society, and nature all the while we are being entertained and enlightened by stories of gastronomy and mushrooms.
Langdon likes to write about the intersection of nature and food…wild foods and foraging…and the fascinating characters who inhabit that intersection. This gives him a chance to follow all kinds of threads that intrigue him: natural foods, culinary trends, wildlife, environmental politics, adventure travel, etc. You can visit his website at www.langdoncook.com. It gathers together in one place information on foraging and cooking classes, writing workshops, talks and lectures, books, and more.

- Diane Rehm Show Interview Langdon Cook: “The Mushroom Hunters”: The “king,” the “trumpet,” “the hedgehog.” These are all names given to wild mushrooms by those who forage for them. It’s a world that author and mushroom forager Langdon Cook knows well. In his new book “Mushroom Hunters: On the Trail of an Underground America,” we are introduced to the subculture of mushroom pickers and buyers who are responsible for finding the wild mushrooms that end up on our plates. Langdon Cook joins guest host Tom Gjelten in studio for the hour.
