CMS is very happy to be hosting Kate Mohatt who will be joining us virtually from Girdwood Alaska.
This presentation by Kate Mohatt will provide a general overview of the vegetation patterns of Alaska, major mushroom habitats, and a selection of common or otherwise interesting species found in those habitats.
Kate’s book, Mushrooms of Alaska, is available directly from Timber Press or via third party outlets(Amazon, Target, Barnes and Nobel, REI, local bookstores).
About our Speaker

Kate Mohatt is the vegetation ecologist for the Chugach National Forest located in south central Alaska. She started and has co-organized the Girdwood Fungus Fair since 2008. She has been collecting fungi in Alaska since 2006. She co-authored the “Mushrooms of the National Forests in Alaska” brochure with Steve Trudell in 2013, and the newly printed field guide “Mushrooms of Alaska” with Noah Siegel and Steve Trudell in 2025. She is the founder and president of the Turnagain Arm Mycological Society.
