Monica Larcom will be discussing best practices for forest and wilderness survival techniques, and how to best not need Search and Rescue Services while mushroom hunting in the Pacific Northwest. She will review a few extended search-survival success stories and how to make the best of a worst-case scenario.
About the Speaker

Monica Larcom has been working for the Lane County Sheriff’s office for about two and a half years as one of the Search and Rescue Program Coordinators. Lane County Search and Rescue (SAR) responds to a variety of outdoor emergencies including (but not limited to) water rescues, fire evacuations, lost mushroom pickers, and injured climbers on the Sisters. Lane County SAR is supported by a group of dedicated volunteers who prepare to respond at any time of day or night to assist in SAR Operations.
