Registration for MLCO Collection Outing – October 6, 2018
Calling all mushroom nerds! Join us for the inaugural mushroom collection outing for the Macrofungi of Lane County Oregon (MLCO) project. This is not your typical CMS foray. The purpose of this scientific outing is to collect, document, identify, and voucher mushrooms that will be added to the Macrofungi of Lane County database of macrofungi. The specimens that are collected will be dried, submitted for DNA testing, then placed in the herbarium at OSU. Note: novice mushroom nerds are welcome!
The collection outing will be lead by U of O professor Dr. Bitty Roy. Bitty is a CMS Life Member. If you have ever helped with the setup of the mushroom display for the Mount Pisgah Arboretum mushroom festival you have certainly met her. As the picture to the left shows, Bitty is typically in charge of “triage”. Yes, as the mushrooms come in she makes the initial call on the genus and directs where to place mushrooms for further identification. She certainly looks pleased with the collection of specimens that Doug Gammie brought in.
- # of participants is 15
- Children accompanied by an adult are welcome
If you have not already read the requirements for this outing, please read them here before registering.
Angela will be responding to registration requests.
