CMS Enews – September 2018

This month’s Enews invites members to attend the first CMS meeting of the 2018/2019 mushrooming season this Wednesday, September 19th. Our speaker will be Becca Marshall who will talk about the research she has done regarding forest practices and how they impact commercial mushroom pickers.   Through document analysis and interviews, Becca’s research examines the extent to which Willamette National Forest’s management of commercial wild mushrooms incorporates environmental justice principles. You will also want to catch up on and start planning for all of the mushroom events happening this fall. We will update you on upcoming CMS events, plus other events that are happening around the state of Oregon. The Fungi in the news roundup includes new developments for using fungi to control pests (rather than pesticides), and the first ever worldwide assessment of fungi.
