Come savor autumn on the Oregon coast where the fun-guys go - to the Yachats Village Mushroom Fest! Enjoy wild forest mushroom cuisine, expert led mushroom walks, (many led by CMS members) talks and exhibits, culinary mushroom workshops, culinary mushroom markets, wine tasting, and live entertainment. Guided mushroom walks and exhibits are FREE and open to the public.
The Yachats Village Mushroom Fest is produced by the Yachats Area Chamber of Commerce and is generously supported by the Cape Perpetua Visitors Center and Scenic Area, Gerdemann Botanical Preserve, the Yachats Commons, the Yachats Ladies Club, Forest Ecologist Marla Gillham, OSU Faculty, Students and Alumni, Cascade Mycological Society, North American Truffling Society, Lincoln Co Mycological Society, Yachats area businesses, Yachats Farmers Market, area naturalists, and many culinary mushroom enthusiasts.

Introductory Identification Class — Saturday October 22nd, 2011
Here is another opportunity to expand your fungal awareness:
On Saturday, October 22nd as a part of the Yachat’s Mushroom Festival, one of our CMS board members Joe Spivak will be teaching a workshop titled “Introduction to Mushroom Collecting and Identification”. In this workshop you will learn:
- About fungi in general and how they evolved along with plants and animals
- How, when, and where to collect wild mushrooms
- How to use a dichotomous key and other techniques for identifying toxic mushrooms and safe to eat edibles

Finally, a guided walk, led by one of our knowledgeable experts, will bring life to the material covered in the classroom.

11th Annual Yachats Mushroom Festival

The Yachats Mushroom Fest will be Oct 15th - 17th Oct 16th - 18th 2010. Joe Spivak will be teaching a 4 hour workshop, “Intro to Mushrooming” from 10am to 2pm on Saturday Oct 16th. Other CMS members will be leading walks throughout the weekend.

Yachats Mushroom Festival - October 16-18, 2009
The Yachats Mushroom Festival will take place the weekend of Oct. 16-18, 2009. The CMS will have a presence at this festival as it does every year. Activities include a display, walks, talks, food, entertainment and more. For a list of events and schedules look at the festival website.
Yachats Mushroom Festival 2008
October 17-19, 2008: Fabulous Wild Mushroom Cuisine, Guided Mushroom Walks, Talks, Exhibits and Identification, as well as Fungi products, Music, Entertainment and lots of FUN-gi! The Yachats Village Mushroom Fest is hosted by the Yachats Area Chamber of Commerce and is generously supported by Yachats Restaurants, the Yachats Lodging Association, the Cape Perpetua Visitors Center and Scenic Area, Forest Ecologist Marla Gillham, OSU Faculty, Students and Alumni, Cascade Mycological Society, North American Truffling Society, Mycological Natural Products, the Yachats Youth and Family Activities Program, and many Yachats area businesses, naturalists and culinary mushroom enthusiasts.
