Beauty, I like where you work!

I'm excited about this season after last season being so dry and a bust (at least for me). I haven't been out in the cottonwoods yet, anyone in the Portland area been out to report? Guessing things will be a little later this year. So little posting on here anymore, it used to be a good source for trading info.

Blockward: my guess is that they were landscape morels. Right? If not, and they were near cottonwoods and a river, time to start hunting. Thanks for posting.

Steve: It's a little spot with cottonwoods that has produced a small number (like one to six) each year for the last four years.

Boomer: Lots of verpas in the lowlands right now.

Wow, I'll say, I hit the cottonwoods yesterday and saw more verpa than I ever have. It looks to be a promising season.

Sauvie Island April 12. Verpas galore, very fresh.. Four little morels. Looks promising for next week in lowland riparian areas.

Seeing same (many verpa, few morchella). Also saw several cut stems, making me think people are picking/eating verpa. Any verpa eaters here? I know some eat them. I have never done so.

We always ate verpas in VA, never heard anyone say not to until I got to the PNW. You also don't eat shad fish and shad roe out here. Guess you just have more to choose from.

OMGosh....so glad to hear that I'm not too late! Haven't had a chance to get out yet this year and was worried that I missed the bloom! Some of my best spots are semi-submerged...anyone know how well morels grow under water?
