For all things fungal related or not.

My group went on an outing in Washington state looking for morels on Saturday, with no luck. We decided to scope out a second area, but ended up getting detoured down a beautiful country road that emptied out into the gorge. Along the way, my sharp-eyed friend spotted oysters on a dead tree at the side of the road. We ended up finding several bags full!

I've never tried oysters before, but they tasted great - and their aroma is very unique (to me anyway): anise-like. Very pungent once they're releasing spores (as they did in my kitchen after cleaning/drying).

Amateur mycologists have questionable morels.
