February Foray – 2/17/2018 – with Cheshire Mayrsohn
Join us for a CMS Members Only February foray. CMS Board Member and President Cheshire Mayrsohn will lead the foray. Cheshire has been scoping out spots and will hopefully find one that has Winter Chanterelles, Hedgehogs, and Black Trumpet mushrooms. But, beyond mushrooms, this is a fabulous opportunity to learn about mosses, plants, trees, and lichens, as Cheshire has a wealth of knowledge on all of these subjects.
Date: Saturday, February 17, 2018
Location: Lower Cascades (Hwy 58)
Required mushroom permits: 1 gallon is permitted for personal use with no permit
Cheshire is a recently retired Botanist for the BLM and is also an active member of the Northwest Lichenologist Society. She is the one who puts together the lichen display at the Mount Pisgah Arboretum Mushroom Festival. Cheshire has been foraging for edible plants and mushrooms since childhood. Her interest in mushrooms of the Pacific Northwest started when she attended Freeman Rowe’s Biology of Mushrooms class at LCC in 1983. Cheshire leads forays annually for CMS and is a wealth of information about mushrooms and our local forests.
