Join CMS members Molly Widmer and Chris Melotti for a fun and educational guided mushroom hunt. Learn more about mushroom identification, ecology and habitat, and collect mushrooms for the table. Foray will most likely go to the Umpqua National Forest (Roseburg area).
Meet at the South Eugene High School by 8:45 for introductions and directions. We will leave at 9:00am sharp. For additional information, contact Grace at 541.5056754.

MUSHROOM MADNESS GRIPS MENDOCINO COAST
A kind of madness grips the Mendocino Coast each year as the opening of mushroom season (November to May) approaches: state parks offers a mushroom exhibit, the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens plans mushroom identification walks, inns offer special mushroom lodging rates, restaurants devise elaborate menu offerings, winemakers hold wine-food tastings , chefs offer cooking classes and non-profits plan fundraisers around mushroom-laden meals. 8th Annual Yachats Village Mushroom Festival
The festival takes place Friday October 19th through Sunday October 21st, 2007. Features Fabulous Wild Mushroom Cuisine, Guided Mushroom Walks, Talks, Exhibits and Identification, as well as Fungi products, Music, Entertainment and lots of FUN-gi! The Cascade Mycological Society will be there along with other local mushroom groups.

Join Cascade Mycological Society members Peg Boulay and Bruce Newhouse for a Fun Fungal Foray and Ecology Encounter on Sunday, October 21st. Learn all about the mushrooms fruiting under your feet. We’ll go to the Cascades or the Coast to collect for the Mt. Pisgah Mushroom show (one week later), and maybe a bit for our own tables, too.

Help collect mushrooms for the Mount Pisgah mushroom show on a foray led by Anna Moore, Friday, October 26th. Meet at the Honeyman group camp site near Florence at 10:30am.
Directions: Take the 101 S. from Florence. Approximately 3 miles south of Florence be on the lookout for Honeyman State Park and Canary Road signs. Turn L on Canary Road. The first parking lot on the Right hand side is the Honeyman group camp site. For additional information, contact Grace at 541.5056754

2007 Mushroom Festival at Mt. Pisgah
The Mushroom Festival, co-sponsored by the Cascade Mycological Society, is held on Sunday October 28th 2007, and features a broad range of fungi collected throughout western Oregon. Experts are on hand during the show to help with mushroom identification. The Mushroom Festival also includes hayrides, cider pressing demonstrations, wine tasting, and a scarecrow contest.

Mushroom Walk at Mt. Pisgah — November 3rd, 2007
Saturday, November 3, 12 – 2pm
It’s mushroom season! Take a walk through the Arboretum’s forested trails with experienced mycologists, Chris Melotti and Molly Widmer of the Cascade Mycological Society, and hunt for these fascinating fungi. Discuss identification, habitat, characteristics, natural history and the role of fungi within an ecosystem.

The Cascade Mycological Society welcomes all to our 8th annual “Identifest.” October 11, 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm. Bring your mushroom finds for identification and discussion. Common and delicious mushrooms will be featured, but the obscure and inedible will hold a place of honor as well. Our meetings are on the LCC main campus, building 16, room 115. (Directions)

This is a great chance for beginners to learn more about how to identify mushroom species and habitat, and for more seasoned mushroomers to meet other members of the mushrooming community.
